The full name of BIMSTEC is 'Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation'. It is a regional organization of countries adjacent to and adjacent to the Bay of Bengal.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday said India will contribute to Act East and Indo-Pacific policies on BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) day.
Jaishankar tweeted, "On BIMSTEC Day, underlining the immense potential of Bay of Bengal cooperation. Our country will also contribute to Act East and Indo-Pacific policies.
India's Act East Policy was brought with the aim of promoting participation of countries present in the Asia-Pacific region as well. The objective of this policy is to advance economic cooperation, cultural ties and to advance strategic partnership.
It is to be known that the External Affairs Minister had participated in the 17th BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting in April and said that the country will take forward the momentum of regional cooperation under the framework of BIMSTEC and make it a strong, vibrant and result-oriented grouping (Result- oriented group).
The member countries of the organization are close neighbors of India.
Actually the full name of BIMSTEC is 'Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation'. It is a regional organization of countries adjacent to and adjacent to the Bay of Bengal. India, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand are included in this organization. This organization was started in 1997 covering only six areas and later in the year 2008 the remaining nine areas were included in it.
This organization is important for India because all the member countries are also close neighbors of India. It is also helpful in India's policy of increasing its influence in the East because it also connects India with South Asian countries.
